San Antonio Book Festival

The San Antonio Book Festival (SABF) is an annual all-day event that features over 110 national, regional, local and emerging authors and welcomes more than 20,000 visitors annually. It was important to the client that the new identity not use cliché San Antonio symbolism, such as an Alamo or a rose window. A type-based solution was the way to go! Inspired by research of Mexican art and history, the final wordmark features the acronym SABF set in a 30s-era geometric font and contained in a square. The main colors, red and yellow, are inspired by the San Antonio Central Library, where the festival takes place every year. Other colors in the palette were informed by the colors and vibrancy of the city.
